Blog Tour : In The Lyrics by Nacole Stayton

Title: In the Lyrics
Author: Nacole Stayton
Publication Date: February 7, 2014

Synopsis

Hensley Bradley is the definition of the girl-next-door. She’s kindhearted, beautiful, and talented. Bored with her mundane life, thoughts of fleeing her small town begin to consume her. With aspiring dreams to use her voice as a one-way ticket, she suddenly discovers that music might not be her only passion.

After a fallout back home, Colby Grant decides to leave his family’s farm, determined to show his father he’s more than just a wanna-be country singer. With his All-American good looks, it doesn’t take long for girls in his new town to focus their eyes on him. But things aren’t what they appear from the outside, and it isn’t long until Colby feels he doesn't fit into the perfect world that so quickly embraced him.

A chance encounter places Hensley in Colby’s path, but it isn’t her natural beauty that first captures his attention – it’s her voice.

When love and music mix, will the combination blossom into a beautiful melody or wither into a heart-wrenching tune?

Review

I am a fun of Nacole Stayton and have had the privilege to be a part of the blog tours for her previous books Upside of Letting Go and A Graceful Mess.

Let the review begin!

The relationships was one of the top things that I loved in this book. Dusty (Hensley's best friend & roommate) and Hensley, Colby and Hensley, and Dusty and Colby. All musically talented they combine it all and create a band in hopes of getting their big break.

Dusty was absolutely loveable and he seemed to have his life together, no drama, which I liked. He was a very stable/ground character, which was necessary for this book. Since Colby & Hensley have enough going on their lives.

Colby & Hensley - they both have A LOT of struggles. From Colby dealing with not only the loss of his brother, but the dad he has resorted to alcohol to help grieve. As for Colby, she has a mother who missed her chance of making it big because she was pregnant with Colby. And Colby feels that needs to do this since her mom constantly reminds her of that. It doesn't end there, very heartbreaking, but she is also dealing with her dad and the cancer that has consumed him.

The connection between Colby and Hensley was electrifying, anyone around them knew that too. It was only a matter of time before they would finally end up together. Hensley built a huge wall around her heart, but Colby is the one to break it down. Once they met, their hopes of making it big doesn't become their only option, will they overcome it or leave each other in the dust?

I'll be honest, it's been a while for a book to sort of make me depressed and just cry a bit. I cried, I yelled, I wanted to knock some sense into people. There's a certain in point where I got so pissed and just couldn't believe that person did what they did without even thinking! AH! My heart did break quite a bit in the book and boy did it leave it's mark ..

I actually had to think about what I was going to rate this and it came down to a 3.5/4. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but I think I'm in love with her previous books much much more. I think that's what made it so hard for me to rate this book, lady can a write book! I wish we had a little bit more of Dusty, I'd so be down for a little novella for him ;)

Overall, I did like the book and I think everyone will too!
