Blog Tour + Reviews + Giveaway : Declaration (Preservation Series #3) by Rachael Wade

Preservation Series by Rachael Wade
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis

Fear is sabotage’s sweetest weapon.

Kate has no time for meaningless romantic charades, and definitely no time for hot college professors who are full of themselves and smitten with her. Constantly battling eviction notices, tuition she can’t afford, and a sick, dependent mother, the last thing she needs is to be distracted with someone else’s complicated baggage.

When she stumbles into Ryan Campbell’s creative writing class, he is only “Mr. Campbell” to her, until Ryan finds himself captivated by her writing and she is forced to face their mutual attraction. His cocky know-it-all syndrome is enough to send her running in the other direction, and his posse of female admirers and playboy reputation are enough to squander any odds in her favor.

But underneath Ryan’s abrasive facade is something to behold, and she can’t stay away for long. Ryan and Kate must decide who they’re willing to become and fight against their former selves if they want to make things work. That’s if academia, vicious vixens, old skeletons, and their own mastery at self-destruction don’t pummel their efforts first.

Synopsis

A sequel to the Amazon bestselling romance, Preservation, told from Ryan’s point of view.

Old Habits Die Hard.

Ryan Campbell is not only leaving his title of Professor behind to move on to bigger and better things at Simon and Warden Publishing, he’s also become Seattle’s rising literary star. Sitting on the overwhelming cusp of newfound fame, he learns soon enough that being popular has its downside.

Attracted to the buzz surrounding his new career, former lovers begin to creep back into his life, and potential ones emerge with enticing advances. While he works to juggle reserved, yet stressful, wedding plans with Kate and his new public image, he has enough to manage without worrying about Carter and Dean—Kate’s loveable albeit eccentric friends—and their latest shenanigans.

Surrounded by a lifestyle that includes temptation at every turn, Ryan finds himself immersed in a world full of scandal and lies, where his oldest weaknesses thrive and his ghosts return to haunt him. Questioning whether his life with Kate is his best path, he must discover if he’s still capable of being the man he aspired to be when she first became his, or if happily ever after is only an illusion.

Synopsis

Featuring characters from Love and Relativity.

Carter Montgomery spent most of his life blending in, and he liked it that way. It was always better to be seen, not heard. And while a theatric streak and friendly demeanor might have fooled most people, he knew the truth—he was the shy one. The quiet kid most people forgot about. Some might have considered that a bad thing, but those people all wanted to be in the spotlight.

The only place Carter didn’t mind attention was on stage, with The Hellions. Once content in his comfort zone in Seattle, Washington, he only knew three things: confrontation was to be avoided, keeping the peace was priority, and the moment he lost Kate Parker to Professor Ryan Campbell, he had no clue what to do with his life. Playing gigs, working at Pike Place Market, and watching BBC after the love of his life sailed off into the sunset just wasn’t going to cut it anymore.

Desperate to escape his rut, he takes a cue from Kate and chooses a random place to relocate—a small island across the country, where no one knows his name and memories of unrequited love aren’t found at every turn. Just when he thinks he’s found the perfect place to unwind and sink back into the shadows, in bursts Whitney Sinclair, a saucy firecracker who loves life and refuses to settle for second best. Full of contagious energy, she dares him to be brave, convincing him that it might finally be time to tell the world what he wants.

It might be time to make a declaration.

Review

Ah, The Preservation Series, well here we go with the review!

Man, I swear it was like a war zone with Ryan and Kate in Preservation (and in Reservation, but more about that later)! If I were standing in front of them, my head would just go back and forth between them, just trying to keep up. Well it's pretty obvious they both have some pretty heavy baggage .. two people with all that junk and trying to be together, things can get messy quick. And a very high possibility of hearts breaking. Just about as quick as their relationship started, it was instant, even though all leads were a big N-O for Kate. People and their decision-making tactics, I tell ya. Ryan has his playboy ways and it's what he has known for years, can he truly give it all up? Kate is use to people leaving her in the dust, has it gotten any easier for her? No. When it comes to Ryan can she forget all of his ways and accept it?

I was ROYALLY pissed at Ryan in the first book (actually I was pissed at him a lot during the first two books), red flag waving ... SKY HIGH! Kate should have just sent a big eff you and gone on her way. But love is strong between the two of the and they get their happy ending.

Onto the next book. This was a tough one for me to read, I'm sorry to say this, but my tolerance for the both of them became real low in this one. And there were just some things that are completely against my "code" for relationships. Some big no-nos happen and I just couldn't see things differently after that. Kate and Ryan's relationship went through the wringer again and again in this one. This book I would say is the true test of their relationship and to see if Ryan's "amazing" past can stay there, and if Kate can truly accept his past and go from there? Yes, it continues in the 2nd book; Ryan needs to tame his ghosts!

Ryan is becoming quite the celebrity with his writing and movie deal in the works. Being in the public, skeletons are bound to be cleaned out of that closet of his. And the long distance they have, while Kate is in St. Lucia teaching children, it's just another element being added to their already crazy situation. Can love conquer all?

Not only did Ryan and Kate's relationship have stress, it started to cause a strain to between and her best friend Carter (who loves and cares for her deeply). AND, he gets a whole book to himself!

All I really have to say is that Ryan had A LOT of bad things going for him and it was a bit hard for me to feel bad for him because well he kind of asked for it. Granted he was trying to stay away from all of that and keep his past in the past, but when shady people are involved .... the world is just against you man!

It was a HEA for Reservation! I just wanted slap sense into the both of them, they drove me absolutely crazy!

Now we're onto Declaration, which is Carter's book.

Carter's been there for Kate from day 1 with this whole Ryan fiasco. He had to sit and watch the woman he loved going through so much hurt from this man, granted there was a lot of happy moments to. But a moment between a vulnerable Kate and a 'not-thinking' Carter, set things in motion for him. He jet-setted to Florida to find himself.

And that he did and the wonderful, spunky Whitney. I would say Declaration is my favorite in the series, to me it was all very real and how a relationship should go. I LOVED LOVED LOVED that Carter was completely honest with his feelings and past (Kate) to Whitney. I'm all about honesty is the best policy, plus relationships never go well when you keep secrets from there. So thank you Carter for being the man that I adore and not keeping things from Whitney.

I loved their relationship, it was extremely refreshing, I could probably read a whole trilogy about them. They are absolutely perfect for each other.

When Kate came up in the story, I was royally annoyed because she wouldn't give him the space he needed. And I was so nervous when she was brought up cause I thought she'd just bring Carter's world down. And he doesn't deserve that, I was like, "Woman! Leave the man alone!".

Anyways, it's a very HEA for Carter and I just adored this book!
