Amazon | REUTS (epub / mobi / paperback )

It's been quite a long since I've read this book before it was re-edited and it was such an honor to get to review the re-edited version! Not only that, but Priya is one of my new favorite authors, so I was happy I got to support her along the way on this awesome journey of hers. I want to say it's been over a year since I first read it, so it was like reading a new book all over again.

Man, if I didn't love Axel and Ren before, it has pretty much turned into something more this time around. I got to fall in love with the both of them all over again. Ren is still the strong girl I remember and I loved the pace of hers and Axel's relationship. For me, it can be a hit or miss with the quick relationship, and I like that she was able to remain honest with Dean (childhood friend turned douchebag turned he's not sooo bad after all). It's clear he still love and cares for her, but could it be something more that's making him feel that way? Ren has been dealt quite the horrible hand in life, but she makes it through and she pretty much has the best support anyone could ask for.

Axel ... I am in love with him even more! He did lose some points in the boyfriend department, but he figured it out. Gosh, in the beginning of their relationship, I must have been super emotional because I was completely gutted ... I was like man what is up with my emotions. I wanted knock Axel in the head to get some sense into him. Anyways, he's quite the romantic man that rides a motorcycle and can kick your ass. I think we're all set here.

In the beginning of the book, you get  A LOT of info, I did find myself at times re-reading things to make sure I understand all concepts of this crazy world. But it didn't hinder anything for me, as a huge paranormal lover, it fueled my intrigue for their world.

I would have to say, well done Priya! You're an amazing writer and to me, everything flowed perfectly. I am extremely excited to read the rest of Axel and Ren's story. I know that so much is to happen, so I can't wait to see how things unfold!

Graveyard Fight

I scowled.
“Are you following me?” I blurted, immediately wishing the ground would open and swallow me whole.
“Why would you think that?” he asked with an enticing smile.
            Puddle of teenage awkwardness. Awesome.
“A question isn’t an answer,” I tried to sound irritated, but it came out in an unattractive wheeze-growl.
His face darkened and his smile disappeared. His brows creased together.
Well, that wasn’t the reaction I expected.
He grabbed my upper arm, pushing me behind him so quickly, I stumbled.
            “Hold that thought, Meus Aeternus.”
He crouched slightly, one hand on his hip, the other--palm open--facing away. It was a protective stance, but against what?
A nanosecond later, an SUV came screeching around the corner. The sky filled with a thunderous staccato--like hail pounding on the roof of a car.
My heart stopped as the scene unwound before me. Images of my parents’ funeral filled my head.
No, no, no. Not another death.
Two guys in trench coats slid out of the passenger side, their guns aimed at us.
This is bad. This is very bad.
A volley of shots echoed through the air. I was a dead woman. I was sure of it. I took a step back, and then another, only to step on my shoelace. I stumbled backward, a stubborn scream building inside my chest, my heartbeat elevating out of control. The bullets froze in midair inches from my shoulder. What the hell?
Axel stood with his hand extended, his lips curved in a grimace.
            “Bad move,” he snarled.
The frozen bullets flew backward, hitting one of the coat-clad men between the eyes, the other in the gut. Two more attackers jumped out of the SUV, marching forward. One held a sword, the other, a spiky ball attached to each end of a chain.
What kind of stuff was Axel into? Medieval fight club?
They eyed each other, silently conspiring, before rushing straight at Axel. Their eyes glowed red, and shark-like teeth protruded from their mouths.
My eyes widened and I recoiled in fear.
The attackers advanced in a blur, swinging their weapons and snapping their teeth at Axel. But he was faster and stronger than the two combined. I watched, mesmerized, forgetting about the possibility of getting ripped to shreds if either attacker got past him.
Axel easily dodged, kicked, and punched his opponents, sending them flying a good twenty to thirty feet. He drew two small swords from under the backside of his jacket. They looked like mini-me sword replicas; too dangerous for cuddles and too cute not to.
Axel pushed off the ground in one quick swoop--dust rising like a tiny tornado behind him--closing the distance between him and his assailants. The speed he traveled made him seem like a blur of blue light in the middle of a lightning show.
He wielded the mini-me swords with ease, blocking attacks and dancing around his opponents before he found an opening. Without hesitating, he ducked between the two men, plunging a sword into each. The men disintegrated, leaving only red, glimmering dust.
I clamped my hands over my mouth, stifling a sob. I trembled, unable to process what I’d just witnessed.
            “Oh, God.” I whimpered.

Author Interview

1. Who do you see as Axel and Ren? I wouldn't even know who to pick!
--- I love this question, but only because if I have any actor or actresses in mind for Dracian characters, its these two. For Axel, I've always imagined Younger version of Jensen Ackles. As for Ren, it's always been younger version of Jessica Alba :).

Solid choices if you ask me!

2. How many books do you plan for this series?
--- This is a trilogy. I might write a novella somewhere in between. But I'm not sure yet.

OK, I don't want to ask too much about your books :)

3. Current book boyfriend?

-- Roth from JLA's White Hot Kiss

4. What is some of your favorite books for 2014?
-- 2014? Gosh, I haven't ready many this year... BUT the few I've read, JLA's new series The Dark Elements, Fire and Blood by Victoria Scott

5. And what are you looking forward to this year?
-- Baby #2. Besides all the writing I need to keep up with, our family is expecting another baby and I'm both excited and nervous about being a mom again!
