Review

I tend to get nervous about romances that involve best friends because sometimes it can get to the point where they just bring everyone's world down. I was pleasantly surprised and I just have to say, BRAVO!

Ace and Heath have been in each other's lives for a pretty long time. They're best friends and each other's support. To me, they're like yin and yang, one definitely could not live without the other. As best friends, there's always that invisible line that they don't want or is afraid to cross. But when they see each other with other people, feelings they were unaware of are brought out. Will they get past their fear and cross that line? Or will they wonder 'what if' for the rest of their lives?

It was such a refreshing read, I've been out of the reviewing mode for a few months, and this book definitely helped me get back into my 'normal' reading mode. Clara does a fantastic job of keeping the story flowing and the reader intrigued the entire way. It was hard for me to the put the book down. Yep you guessed it, another late night of reading.

I know you all try to predict what happens next as you read, but GOOD LUCK with this one. All my predictions were shot, she did the total opposite and that just made me love this even more. The more romances you read, you can be spot on about predictions, but let me see how well you do with this one.

I love their relationship and that no matter how their inner turmoil would sometimes tell them to do one thing, they stuck with their heart and went against it. I love risk takers is all I'm saying. And I am so thankful that they weren't all about making each other jealous, they're both in high school, but you don't get that sense at all. Oh you know, just another reason to love this book :) They fought for each other and never stopped, their love was strong and I feel that so many readers can relate to them. This story was just very realistic to me and nothing seemed forced.

MOST of the supporting characters are just awesome, especially Heath's family. They speak a lot of truth and had no problem telling Heath the hard truth. Just the way any family should!

It's a top fave for my 2014 reads and you should get your hands on this too! From the storyline and characters, you'll just love it all! I love all of your work under this pen name and Priya Kanaparti, forever your loyal fan :)

Storms of Lazarus (Shadows of Asphodel #2)

Sometimes escape is impossible. Sometimes love isn't enough.

1913. Christmas Eve. Ardis hardly expects a quiet holiday with Wendel, between fleeing Constantinople and hiding from an ancient society of assassins. And they owe a debt to a certain archmage.

In Königsberg, Prussia, they work with Konstantin on the next evolution of Project Lazarus. Wendel once called Königsberg home, the city now besieged by the Russians and their clockwork engines of war. This may be Wendel’s last chance to save his family and find redemption, but he's tormented by nightmares and tempted by laudanum. Ardis fears her love isn’t enough to save Wendel. Her hands are full piloting the automatons, and she's terrified to tell him a secret of her own. Will they—and their love—survive the storms of war?

Review

She's done it again everyone! I was such a fan of the first book in this series, Shadows of Asphodel, I was overjoyed to be asked to be a part of this blog tour. It took no hesitation on my part, I'm just in love with Wendel & Ardis' story!

Gosh, where do I even start? It's going to be tough to do this review without spoiling anything at all. I suppose, I'll just talk about all the elements that I did love.

I still don't have a full understanding of the whole dieselpunk era, but this series just makes that even more fascinating. The technology during this era is completely awesome, when I was reading this, I was just wondering what it would be like if we had them in present time, especially this little "bug" invention. They were definitely sneaky little buggers.

Wendel & Ardis - I ship the crap out of them! Both of them and their bad-assery! Plenty of steamy scenes, fighting scenes, and TONS of humorous dialogue between the two --- like FRENCH TOAST! And guess who we get more of? KONSTANTIN ... you'll love all of that.

If you read the first, you'll love this one even more! The 2nd edition is such a great follow-up to the first one and I just want this series to go on forever and ever. I think the whole steampunk/dieselpunk really adds to this series, to me, it definitely makes it stand out more than other series. It makes it rather unique and it's definite first in any of my reads. I love that element! You'll love all the characters, everything that happens in this story, there's just a lot of love going around.

BRAVO, when's the next one?!

MY RATING : 5 STARS!
